Whether it’s their music, their stage act or the visual themes of their live performances, the band has set new benchmarks in Pakistan’s music industry. The inventors of #AsliWalaLive, a movement that supports live music acts of the country, CALL is spearheading and further aims to lead a new breed of super bands and musicians that can herald Pakistan into it’s best music era yet.
Call’s musical style has remained predominately alternative rock, with some commercial mainstream ballads centered on Junaid’s powerful expressive vocals, melancholic soundscapes, intricate guitar riffs and iconic drum beats. Their lyrics, often embellished with imagery, focus on themes such as Identity, Patriotism and Longing. Popular for their live performances, the group have staged several scintillating lighting sequences and powerful drum sections. The band became noted for their refusal to adhere to traditional pre-recorded performances and generating the #Asliwalalive (meaning “the real live”) a nod to their live and electrifying performances.
Some of their iconic live performances include Channel [V] birthday bash in front of a 30,000 crowd, international Oslo Music Mela 2017 to a heartwarming response followed by Jilawatan live at PEPSI BOB which set a new benchmark for live performances in Pakistan. The band reached new heights with their theatrical live performance at the Momentum Conference in 2018.
CALL’s “Hum Zalmi” for the Peshawar Zalmi team became the anthem of PSL, 2018. On 23rd March, 2018 the band released “Zindabad”. This song shot at the historic “Bradlaugh Hall” involved 42 Pakistani drummers & percussionist. The sheer scale of the musical arrangement and the number of musicians involved was awe-inspiring quickly became the most popular viewed song on facebook in Pakistan. The band’s repotoire today carries the history and development of Pakistani rock.
